Increasing Your Mental Time Horizon

You become more powerful as you're able to parse and relate to larger units of time.

When you can't separate yourself with the moment (overidentifying with conscious, experiencing self), you can't delay gratification or prioritize long term wellness against short term rewards (e.g. instant gratification)

When you can relate to / hold space for a day at a time, you can suddenly handle discomfort, work, unpleasantness, much better (you know it's temporary, it's service, you have rewards coming later).

If you can relate to a week at a time, you can implement things like non-daily practices (not strictly required-- ?? )... tk

But can you relate to a year?

Allows you to think in phases, think in major projects, think in seasons, fall into deep focus and flow and concentration on single efforts at a time (which seems to be advantageous vs. doing a bunch at once for the same amount of time)

Can you relate to a decade?

This is long term games, infinite games, long term plans, personal transformation, big ambitious goals

How do you do this in the moment, as Conscious Self? ->Perhaps through brainstorming and documenting for reference? Self-talk and reframing?

I'm not sure that "relate to" is exactly the right phrasing, but I do think I'm onto a nice idea
