Getting Things Done

Productivity system by David Allen

GTD relies on constructing a trusted, comprehensive system of organization, and funneling all input and material into it. Tasks are clearly distilled into "next actions".

GTD achieves "relaxed control" through horizontal focus:

  1. clearly defined outcomes (projects) and their next actions
  2. regularly reviewed reminders in a trusted system.

GTD uses vertical focus on a project basis, with the natural planning model:

  1. Define purpose and principles
  2. Outcome visioning
  3. Brainstorming
  4. Organizing
  5. Identifying next actions

One important principle of GTD is "process things once".
